Worship

Worship in the Parish of Poplar is centred on the Mass and on daily prayer.

The Mass, or Holy Communion, was instituted by Jesus at the Last Supper, inviting us to remember his Passion through the sharing of bread and wine.

In praying Morning or Evening Prayer, we join with churches across the country, encountering God through a shared diet of scripture and Psalm. All Saints now offers a growing programme of informal prayer services, too, allowing us to lift to God whatever is on our minds through praise and music.

Whoever you are, and wherever you are on your journey of faith, you are welcome to join us.

Parish Mass

For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.

The Parish Mass on Sundays at All Saints and St Nick’s is the focal point of the week’s worship, including a sermon, prayers, hymns, incense and children’s activities.

Daily Mass

For where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them.

Daily Masses at All Saints and St Nick’s last around 25 minutes. These are simpler, said services: calm and reflective in nature, with no music.

All-Age Mass

Let the little children come to me, and do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom belongs.

The All-Age Mass at St Nick’s is particularly welcoming to primary aged children, featuring songs, a children’s address and a relaxed atmosphere.

Choral Mass

We do not presume to come to this thy table, O merciful Lord, trusting in our own righteousness.

The monthly Choral Mass at All Saints is sung to a choral service setting by the All Saints Choir, and uses the Traditional Language provision from Common Worship.

Sunday 27th October (The Last Sunday after Trinity)

Morning Prayer

Devote yourselves to prayer,
keeping alert in it with thanksgiving.

Morning Prayer lasts 15-20 minutes: a calm and holy start to the day, including Psalms, readings and prayers.

You can also join Morning Prayer online on Zoom at 9.30am Tuesday-Friday. To join, please contact Fr Matt.

Praise Service

I will exalt you and praise your name, for in perfect faithfulness you have done wonderful things.

Our Praise Service is an hour-long, informal Sunday service, featuring contemporary worship music, a longer address and extemporary prayer.

Bible Study

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Bible Study takes place in the All Saints Crypt at 7pm every Wednesday. Expect lively discussion and debate about a particular theme or Bible passage.

Prayer Ministry

And whatever you ask in my name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

Prayer Ministry takes place in the All Saints Crypt every Friday at 7pm. This is an informal service, offering an open-heaven encounter with God, where healing, wholeness and solutions are possible.

Pilgrim Group

Happy are those whose strength is in you,
in whose heart are the highways to Zion.

Pilgrim Group meets on Thursday evenings from 7.30-8.30pm via Zoom to discuss a passage from the Bible together. No prior knowledge is required: sessions are specifically designed for everyone. To join, please contact Fr Matt.

Messy Church

From the mouths of infants and nursing babies you have established strength.

Messy Church is a form of church for children and adults that involves creativity, celebration and hospitality, meeting throughout the year at St Nick’s.

It includes a welcome, a long creative (messy!) time to explore the biblical theme, a celebration time involving story, prayer, song and games, and a sit-down meal together.
